I'm Hitesh Patel, a freelance video editor and motion designer. I edit videos for YouTube creators, documentary filmmakers, and brands, and I animate still photographs into 2.5D parallax. None of what follows was planned. It just kept turning into the next thing.
Two things were going on. Paid photo editing, mostly online with some local work, and a YouTube channel where I cut every video myself. That's where the editing actually began.
This is the year it changed. I taught myself 2.5D parallax and cinemagraphs, put up a gig, and expected very little from it. People started booking. Musicians found me around the same time, and I've been animating artwork ever since for Eternum, Lydia Ford, and a few others.
Clients who'd been sending photographs started sending footage instead, asking if I edited video too. I'd been cutting my own videos for five years by then, so it wasn't a stretch. It's the biggest part of my week now.
A filmmaker in Canada asked me to animate archive photographs for his documentary about 1940s cinema and open-air theatres. It screened during the Cannes festival.
